Scan the man!
Hi All,
- SCANS
With luck (!), come Monday 18th I'll formally have the 'all clear'.
Yesterday (7th Sept) I was at London Bridge Hospital having a CT scan. I had one of these at the initiation of my treatment, so this should show the progress - hopefully elimination - of the cancer.
On Monday (11th) I have to go into Central London for a PET scan. This apparently gives a different type of reading to the CT, and together a more informed view can be taken. I've had 2 PET scans previously (one at the start, and one halfway through my treatment).
Finally, the results of both of these will be seen on 18th when I see my consultant (Dr Schey), again at London Bridge. Then, it will be back to work!
- SPORT
I'm gradually trying to introduce some exercise back into my daily routine. I hesitate to call it 'training' at this point, as that would be vastly over-stating things. However, I always believe you do should so the best with what you've got at that time. I'm sure it will be a long time until I can cycle for 5 hours again, as at the moment 1 hour (and then on the flat, and steady pace) is an big effort. However, hopefully I'll see a consistent improvement (as well as starting to lose a few inches from my waist!).
My target for September month end is to weigh-in below 78kg (remember, I was 80.4kg at my last chemo session). That would be a lose of around 5 pounds in old money. I'll keep you updated on progress.
Livestrong,
John
